Making Your Smile the Envy of Everyone

Dental Crowns

The function of a dental crown or cap is to protect your tooth while making teeth look full, bright, and new. At Hagerstown Dentist, we make our crowns specifically for our patients using impressions from their teeth to ensure it fits properly. We offer the following types of crowns for our patients:

  • Temporary Crowns

  • Metal Crowns

  • Stainless Steel Crowns

  • Porcelain Crowns

Dental crowns are a great option to cover broken or discolored teeth. In addition, they are also used to protect fillings that are larger and do not have a sufficient tooth structure. If you undergo the root canal process, a dental crown will be inserted. Many patients choose to protect teeth that have weakened and are deteriorating by inserting a dental crown.

Dental Bridges

A gap between your teeth can affect your confidence, your appearance, and even cause issues when it comes to eating. Over time, the teeth in your mouth will begin to shift. This can result in open spaces in your mouth that could affect the impact of your bite or even worse, cause gum disease!

A dental bridge can alleviate these issues by bridging the space where the tooth or teeth may be missing. Once the bridge has been cemented in place and connected to each open space, there is no worry of it falling out of place. The dental bridge process will trim down the two connecting teeth and then we’ll cap them with a crown. Afterward, a replacement tooth is inserted.

Dental bridges are available in porcelain, metal, or ceramic. Once we discuss the best option for you, an experienced dentist will fit you with your dental bridge. This will result in a much better eating experience and smile you can be proud of.

Tooth Extractions

In some cases, teeth cannot be saved and must be removed. When this is the only option, we use great care and extreme precision to extract a tooth. Prior to extraction, our team will discuss the process and sedation with you. We want to make sure you don’t feel any pain during this procedure.

There are many reasons why you may need to have teeth extracted such as:

  • Damaged tooth
  • Infection that cannot be resolved with a root canal
  • Teeth blockage from other teeth coming in

In most instances, the procedure is simple. The process includes loosening the tooth prior to removal, then removing with a pair of forceps. Local anesthesia is required with a simple injection. We’ll discuss more in detail prior to the procedure.

Complex teeth extractions that require surgery will require general anesthesia. General anesthesia is also needed for large or curved root, or wisdom teeth that have not come in yet.

Root Canal

A root canal is necessary when you experience an infection or cavity in your tooth. Inside your tooth, there is a soft tissue referred to as pulp which includes blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue that are vital to the development and health of your teeth. If neglected, this can cause trauma to your teeth and immense pain if left untreated. When the pulp becomes infected, it must be treated immediately!

If you’re experiencing sensitivity to hot or cold sweets, pain, swelling, pain when eating or bad taste in your mouth, you may be in need of a root canal. During the procedure, the inside of your tooth is cleaned to get rid of the infection. This is a routine procedure and our professional team will ensure that it’s as seamless as possible.
